Celebrating You

You and I don’t often recognize ourselves as being works of art, but we are – works of creative influence.

To me, a work of art is anything that has been created from an idea, first inspired by a thought, then a vision, and transformed into something tangible – an object, a desired outcome, a new perspective about life, or something that affects the lives of others in a positive way.

Like this article I am creating. I have an idea of what I want to say to you, yet how it turns out will be the magic – the message, the “take away” for you.

The journey of an idea is the essence that unravels taking on a life of its own. Unknown twists and turns – the journey of creating and forming its end results. Once you embrace your idea, declare it, honor the vision, and begin to form it, its energy becomes the magic open to interpretation by others.

Someone once said “It’s none of your business what the out come of your project is. What’s important is you did it!” Meaning you create it and put it “out” there. But how it is received will be determined by those who experience it.

I thought this was a hard concept to understand at first because I want all those things I create to be “seen” the same way I see them. And they can’t be simply because people are different and have their own perceptions about life, love, values, work, family, and themselves.

So when I create, I must let it go, let it take on a life of its own. The magic it generates for others will make a difference or not all on its own.

What’s most important is that you and I always create our ideas and work towards our dreams – our works of art – the magic of who we are.

The idea, the journey, the outcome …. amazing

  1. This is such a cool post and important lesson shared here, Lesly.
Thank you. We are often overly attached to how our work may be perceived by our audience, and focussed on making sure we are presenting the right image, pushing the right buttons etcetera, that we can stop short of expressing what we would like to express, or to allow outcomes for the work and ideas to evolve themselves. I have often been guilty in this respect in my own work, even to the extent of holding back from releasing my work, and am still learning the lesson myself.
Thanks for the great post, also love the hot glass sculpting video, that is tremendous art work!
